Marine and Coastal Unit

Our largest Marine and Coastal project is INFOMAR which together with the Marine Institute, maps the Irish seabed and provides key baseline data for Ireland’s marine sector. We also participate in several EU marine related projects.

INFOMAR Final Phase `Open`

The final phase of the INFOMAR programme will take place from 2027 to 2029 and will map the most challenging and shallowest final 125,000 square kilometres, to complete what has become known as ‘The Real Map of Ireland’.
