Our Supports for Planning

Geological Survey Ireland supports the Department of Climate, Energy and the Environment (DCEE) in its role as a Statutory Consultee. We respond to calls for information and observations on a range of environmental assessments carried out under planning regulations.
The Geoscience for Planning web pages are a resource for delivering our support in this respect.
We also respond in writing where required or appropriate to requests for observations on Environmental Assessment Impact reports (EIAR) and Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) reports at planning and pre-planning stage. We also provide observations and geoscience data for County Development Plans, Heritage Plans, Local Area Development Plans, Visitor Experience Development Plans and many others during planning and consultation phases.
All our published data is freely available to the Public.

Our data and maps are freely available for use in the preparation of Strategic Environmental Assessments (SEA), Environmental Impact Assessment Reports (EIAR), etc. They will be of greatest use for the chapters on Land & Soils, Water and Material Assets.
