Information – Projects
We deal with digital products and cross sectional projects with a major Information Technology component. The work is carried out by a mix of permanent, contract and consulting staff. We ensure – via ongoing collaboration – that Ireland is represented in various European initiatives involving EuroGeoSurveys (the European umbrella organisation for Geological Surveys) and other European institutions. The current projects we’re involved with are listed below.
EPOS
EPOS is the European Plate Observing System project. It is a long term initiative to facilitate integrated use of data from various Research Infrastructures. As part of the Geological Information and Modelling Thematic Core Service we are delivering a Borehole Index for all boreholes we hold and a 3D model index.
EGDI
EGDI stands for European Geological Data Infrastructure. It is being developed by members of EuroGeoSurveys to deliver data at European level for onshore, marine, minerals, geohazards, energy, soil and groundwater along with map viewers and a metadata catalogue.
