2015 Short Call

Applicants were from both the public and private sector with 37% of applications from SMEs, 54% from Universities and 9% from other organisations.

29% of applications related to the Tellus programme, 29% to the INFOMAR programme and 32% to other geoscience topics.

In total, almost €1m funded 40 projects starting in January 2016.


2017 Short Call

66 applications were received for the 2017 call, 63% from academic institutes and 37% from industry partners. 28% were led by a female researcher with 72% led by male researchers. 22% of applications related to Tellus, 22% to INFOMAR and the remainder to all other areas of geoscience.
The total value of project applications was €2.23m with €1.82m requested from GSI - the remainder was leveraged or in-kind contributions from partners.

2020 Short Call

​A total of 56 proposals were submitted for the 2020 Short Call, with a total of 17 projects being funded with a total financial commitment from GSI of €495k plus data, expertise and access to infrastructure. Applicants were from academia (81%) and industry (19%). Projects included topcis such as landslide hazards, applications for Tellus and INFOMAR data, palaeoclimate studies and more.

2022 Short Call

​31 applications were received for the 2022 Short Call, 71% from the public sector and 29% from industry partners. A total of 14 projects have been funded through the 2022 Short Call with a total financial commitment from GSI of €381k plus data, expertise and access to infrastructure. Projects included topcis such as landslide hazards, coastal monitoring, palaeoclimate studies and more.


2024 Short Call

​A total of 26 proposals were submitted for the 2024 Short Call, with a total of 12 projects being funded with a total financial commitment from GSI of €324k plus data, expertise and access to infrastructure. Applicants were from academia (61%) and industry (31%). Projects included topcis such as minerals, applications for INFOMAR data, groundwater resources and more.
