Geological Survey Ireland financial support must be acknowledged in the following ways:
*Paper (acknowledgements) “This work has been supported by Geological Survey Ireland through the Grant Agreement [number/project reference]"
*Presentations– add GSI logo and full acknowledgment.
*Posters – add GSI logo and acknowledgment.

Where GSI data is used (without financial support via a GSI funded or co-funded programme) this should be acknowledged as follow:
“This work has been supported by data collected and provided by Geological Survey Ireland.”

National Policy Statement on Ensuring Research Integrity in Ireland

Tile 4 Description

Research integrity relates to the performance of research to the highest standards of professionalism and rigour, and to the accuracy and integrity of the research record in publications and elsewhere. It is essential that the Irish research system as a whole protects its reputation for the quality and integrity of its research activity and outputs, in order that we and our international partners may rely on those outputs to promote economic and social development and growth. Unfortunately instances of research malpractice and misconduct are increasing worldwide. Research integrity is best ensured, in so far as possible, when individual researchers, institutions and funding bodies work together to create effective processes. This should ensure that the research for which they are responsible is conducted to the highest standards, and any shortcomings in process or practice are identified and taken in hand. These principles are captured in the National Policy Statement on Ensuring Research Integrity in Ireland, first published in 2014 and revised in 2019.

National Framework on the Transition to an Open Research Environment

The principles of the National Framework support access to research funded by the Irish Government. They support the free flow of information across national and international research communities, contributing to research-enabled teaching and learning; citizen science; open innovation; and greater transparency, accountability, and public awareness of the results of publicly funded research. The transition to an open research environment has a key objective of enhancing and supporting research excellence across all disciplines, research integrity, and public trust in research. The Framework and related background information is availabe on the National Open Research Forum website.

GSI and DCCAE have endorsed this policy and support an open access policy for government funded research.

DPER Circular 13/2014 Management of and Accountability for Grants from Exchequer Funds

The Circular outlines the public financial management principles, procedures, and additional reporting requirements to be followed in the management of grant funding provided from public money as well as the reclassification of grants and grants-in-aid. The overall principle is that there should be transparency and accountability in the management of public money, in line with economy, efficiency and effectiveness.

Knowledge Transfer Ireland State Aid Practical Guide for Researchers

Knowledge Transfer Ireland have developed a Practical Guide to State Aid Considerations in Research, Development & Innovation for RPOs and Industry. This guide aims to give companies and people working in the Irish research base an overview of European Union (EU) rules relating to State aid and how it might impact them when working together. Whilst the guide cannot offer specific advice, it explains the rationale for State aid rules, what the parties may need to look out for and how to approach structuring engagements so that infringement can be avoided. The State aid rules can appear complicated. Rather than going into great detail, this guide focusses on the key areas that need to be considered when a company and a research performing organisation (RPO) are planning a research collaboration, a contracted service, licensing or access to RPO facilities. For those wanting more detail, the guide contains links to further reading.
