County Geological Heritage Audit Reports

​​​​​Twenty nine counties (including the four local authority areas of County Dublin), Cork City and Galway City local authority areas, have been completed and are now available for download. Sites are audited under the 16 Themes but not every county will have examples of each theme and some sites will cover more than one theme.

CarlowThe audit of County Geological Sites in Co Carlow was completed in 2004. The audit was carried out by Matthew Parkes and Claire McAteer. The Carlow Geological Heritage Project was supported by the Heritage Council, the Geological Survey of Ireland, Stone Developments Ltd. and the Carlow County Council. Cavan​​The audit of County Geological Sites in Co Cavan was completed in December 2013. The audit was carried out by Matthew Parkes, Robert Meehan and Vincent Gallagher. The Cavan Geological Heritage Project was supported by the Heritage Council, the Geological Survey of Ireland, the Cavan County Council and the Cavan Heritage. Donegal

The audit of County Geological Sites in Donegal is a compilation of two reports:

  • An audit of County Geological and Geomorphological Sites in north Donegal carried out by Ronan Hennessy, Robert Meehan, Vincent Gallagher, Matthew Parkes and Sarah Gatley and
  • An audit of County Geological Sites in south Donegal carried out by Malcolm McClure, Vincent Gallagher, Robert Meehan and Sarah Gatley

The overall Donegal Geological Heritage Project was supported by Geological Survey Ireland, Donegal County Council and The Heritage Council. The resulting report is a contribution to the County Donegal Heritage Plan 2011-2016.
