Geological Survey Ireland, a division of the Department of the Environment, Climate and Communications, is Ireland's national Earth Science knowledge centre, working on behalf of the Irish public. A postion for a senior geologist working on the Geothermal Programme has opened with a 4-year fixed term contract.
Geological Survey Ireland is based in Booterstown Hall, Booterstown Avenue, Blackrock, County Dublin, A94 N2R6.
Requirements:
- A qualification at minimum level 9 on the National Framework of Qualifications (NFQ)
or NARIC Ireland equivalent in Hydrogeology, Geology or equivalent, and
- Have at least five (5) years’ relevant experience in geology, hydrogeology,
engineering, or another relevant discipline
OR
- A qualification at minimum level 8 on the National Framework of Qualifications (NFQ)
or NARIC Ireland equivalent in an Earth Science discipline or equivalent, and
- Have at least ten (10) years’ relevant experience in geology, hydrogeology,
engineering, or another relevant discipline.
- AND
Have relevant experience in geological/geothermal/hydrogeological assessment and
reporting;
- Have a working knowledge of Irish geology;
- Working knowledge of delivering a project within scope on time and budget
• Have a working knowledge of relevant geothermal policy and guidelines (e.g., Policy
Statement on Geothermal Energy for a Circular Economy (2023))
- Have relevant fieldwork experience, e.g., geology, hydrogeology, drilling, etc.;
- Demonstrate the skills to liaise with geoscience, environmental, government and third
level sector representatives;
- Have experience of scientific communication to the general public;
- Have relevant experience in systematic and accurate data handling and analysis;
- Have a high level of IT proficiency in Microsoft, or equivalent packages;
- A current full Irish driving licence.
