Geological Survey of Ireland are operating a multi-instrument core scanning system. The system consists of a Short Wavelength Infra-Red (SWIR) camera, a Medium Wavelength Infra-Red (MWIR) camera and a very high resolution RGB camera.
To date we have scanned approximately 1090 drillholes. This has produced over 7Tb of data. This data is freely available, but due to the size of the files please email gsi.corestoreATdecc.gov.ie so we can facilitate delivery.
We are open to collaboration using either the scanner or the data with any of our stakeholders.
To open, study and evaluate the raw data outputs from the core-scanning system, we recommend CoreSpecViewer, open-source software solution developed with the support of Geological Survey Ireland.
