The trials and tribulations of developing groundwater supplies in the Humanitarian sector

​The David Burdon Memorial Lecture will be presented by Geraint Burrows (Groundwater Relief) on the ‘The trials and tribulations of developing groundwater supplies in the Humanitarian sector’.

Abstract

Geraint will be describing several projects that Groundwater Relief has been involved with over the last couple of years in South Sudan, Bangladesh and Uganda. Geraint will also be advertising the launch of Groundwater Relief’s Rapid Response Unit – Groundwater Relief is inviting expressions of interest from groundwater professionals who would like to join a panel of volunteers who will be able to travel at short notice to provide assistance in crisis hit areas.

Biography

Geraint Burrows is the founder and CEO of Groundwater Relief. Geraint is a hydrogeologist and WaSH engineer who has worked for the UK Environment Agency and a number of International Non-Governmental Organisations such as Oxfam, Medecins Sans Frontieres and the International Rescue Committee.

Groundwater Relief is an organisation supported by a membership of over 200 hydrogeologists and groundwater professionals. Their members work within water utilities, mineral extraction companies, environmental consultancies, oil and gas companies, government and educational institutions from across the globe. Their skills and knowledge support the sustainable  development of groundwater resources for the world’s poorest and most vulnerable people.
