The Geoheritage of the Connemara Marble with Professor Martin Feely

​This talk is organised by the Galway Geological Association.

This talk will explain the geological processes that led to the formation of the unique Connemara marble stone. New images of the marble’s mineralogy will be shown and the classification of the stone as a marble and gemstone will be addressed. Ongoing Geoheritage studies of the architectural use of the Connemara marble during the Gilded Age of the US will be outlined.
