Seabed mapping (Marine programme)

Ireland's seabed is roughly ten times the size of its land area. GSI with Marine Insitute mapped the deeper offshore waters as part of the Irish National Seabed Survey between 1999 and 2005; the inshore areas with INFOMAR (2006-2016) and now mapping the remaining areas until 2026 for a complete picture of the Irish seabed.

Shipwrecks (Marine programme)

​The Marine programme through the INFOMAR project mapped the shipwrecks all along the coast of Ireland.

Tsunami warning system (Geohazards programme)

​Geological Survey Ireland is working with national partners, including the Office for Emergency Planning, Met Éireann, Dublin Institute for Advanced Studies and the Office of Public Works, to enhance the international tsunami monitoring system, estimate the risks and develop an appropriate emergency response plan for Ireland.
