On 23 May 2024, the new EU Regulation Critical Raw Materials Act (CRMA) came into effect in Ireland. You can read the press release concerning this event HERE.
On the same day, The Institute of Geologists of Ireland launched a new factsheet about the CRMA detailing current suppliers of raw materials across the world to the EU, why we need this legislation and what this means for Ireland.
“The CRMA will require that Ireland plays its part in mining the metals required to secure decarbonisation and deal with the global climate crisis."
