Geoscience Ireland Joins Marine Energy Wales Cluster (MEW)

Published:

Established in 2016, MEW works to build a positive and unique collaboration between industry, government and academia. It has a significant role to play in the development of offshore wind energy in the Irish and Celtic Seas and in which Ireland has major interests.

The cluster brings together technology developers, the supply chain, academia and the public sector to establish Wales as a global leader in sustainable marine energy generation, making a significant contribution to a low carbon economy.

Commenting on the affiliation, Andrew Gaynor of Geoscience Ireland said:

"Geoscience Ireland companies have well established capacity in marine, environmental and geotechnical engineering necessary for the development of offshore wind energy and I look forward to close collaboration with Marine Energy Wales".
