The GSI Short Calls are designed to support excellent research, build capacity, increase research impact, and strengthen research teams in the area of geoscience on the Island of Ireland.
Under the 2020 Short Call, a total of seventeen (17) projects were supported with a total financial commitment from GSI of €495K. Each funded project received a maximum of €30,000 with durations varying from 9 months up to 20 months (although the original projects were limited to 14 months duration, some were significantly affected by Covid19). Topics included groundwater, natural hazards, marine and coastal erosion, minerals and hyperspectral analysis, data analysis linked to the Tellus programme.
