Geological Survey Ireland’s staff at International Association of Hydrogeologists (IAH) annual conference

Published:
Geological Survey Ireland's, Groundwater and Geothermal team were out in force at the International Association of Hydrogeologists, Irish Group, annual conference.  Seven Geological survey Ireland staff attended the two-day event held in Tullamore on the 16th and 17th of April.

The theme of this year's conference was Groundwater & Nature Based Solutions.  Nature Based Solutions is an approach that promotes nature as a means for providing solutions to climate mitigation and adaptation challenges, and the concept is at the core of EU policies and frameworks.

The IAH (Irish Group) Groundwater conference was well attended by hydrogeologists, engineers, local authorities, consultants, planners, environmental scientists, public health officials, professionals and practitioners from a variety of sectors.

Geological Survey Ireland had a stand, at the exhibitor's area, where we promoted our various publications, especially the recently published Wells and Wellbeing book by Bruce Misstear.  Our stand was very popular, with a steady stream of people queueing up to purchase our books and try out our groundwater related Virtual Reality modules, created as part of the CatchmentCARE project (https://www.catchmentcare.eu).

We even had a visit to our stand from Minister Malcom Noonan, who opened the conference, who was very keen to pick up a copy of our book.
