Geological Survey Ireland has been working with the National Standards Authority Ireland (NSAI) and the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage (DHLGH) to investigate the damage mechanism affecting properties across Donegal and to support the revision of standards related to defective building materials. Two project teams were engaged and managed by the Survey to work on the research questions, with funding from DHLGH. A sample suite of affected building materials was provided by Geological Survey Ireland, in co-operation with Donegal County Council for study.
All project results and outputs submitted by partners to Geological Survey Ireland were shared with NSAI and are all published here.
