2024 Cunningham Awards

​​​​The Cunningham College Awards recognise achievements in undergraduate final year projects. They are awarded in memory of Mark Cunningham, former Assistant Director of Geological Survey Ireland.

Two equal prizes of €350 are awarded to the best undergraduate projects by students graduating from Irish universities each year. 

The awards were presented at a ceremony at Tom Johnson House, Beggars Bush on Friday, 13 December 2024.


2024 Cunningham Award Winners are:

Eve Furlong, University of Galway (Supervisor: Dr Jake Ciborowski)

Kara Gupta, University College Cork (Supervisor: Dr David Jarvis)

Bedrock Geology of Seven Heads West, Co Cork


The prize giving took place at Tom Johnson House, Beggars Bush and prizes were presented by a representative of the Cunningham family, Tom Garvey (nephew of Mark Cunningham) and Geological Survey Ireland Director, Koen Verbruggen.

The event also included the presentation of awards to the winners of the 2024 Du Noyer Photographic Competition​.
