Do you know which metals power your mobile phone? Or what it takes to manufacture a laptop? And how are we going to make all the electric cars we need for a green future?

Join our panel as they discuss our growing demand for new technologies, and the natural resources we need to create them. We'll cover the practicalities of finding the raw materials the world relies on, and whether mining can really be sustainable.

Sessions themes will cover:

  • Where can we find metals?
  • How to shape future mining?
  • Can mining be safe and sustainable?
  • Prospects for the Circular Economy
  • Who decides?

The events will offer a forum for discussion and debate on mining and its role in society. Speakers with diverse professional and personal backgrounds including representatives from science, NGOs, stakeholders, industry and the museum sector will share their thoughts and open the opportunity for questions and ideas from the public. The event organisers are committed to hosting a diverse, respectful exchange of thoughts and ideas on a complex subject and warmly welcome your participation.

Presentations are now available to watch on YouTube.
