​On 28 December, the Department published a Draft Policy Statement on Geothermal Energy for a Circular Economy, which delivers on the Roadmap for Geothermal Energy published in November 2020. It will raise awareness of the potential of geothermal energy and will also help to address barriers to its development in Ireland. A public consultation on the Draft Policy Statement was also launched, to gather the views of the public and key stakeholders. The final Policy Statement will outline the regulatory framework, and highlight the requirement for public engagement and for further work in the collection of data on Ireland's geothermal resources.

As part of the consultation process, two information sessions will be held online on February 15th (19:00) and 17th (12:00). The event is open to all and pre-registration is required.
