GSI is a recognised repository of the National Archives with a statutory responsibility for preservation and protection of records of the organisation under government archive legislation. GSI rare archive collections of historical significance are stored and protected in fire and temperature controlled safe storage.
Not all archive content are catalogued. Within the limited resources available, our aim is to complete the cataloguing with objective to have records and information made more accessible for clients and researches.
Enquiries about the Archives are welcome and should be directed to Sarah Gatley at 01 678 2837 or by e-mail. However we point out that we are unable to undertake research. The archive is not open to the public but requests can be facilitated and will normally require an appointment.
