The exhibition was developed by the National Museum of Ireland in partnership with Geological Survey Ireland to celebrate 175th anniversary of the establishment of Geological Survey Ireland. 

The exhibition was officially opened by Minister Eamon Ryan TD on 27 September 2021 at the National Museum of Ireland, Collins Barracks and closed its doors on 5 November 2023.

Exhibits included a large floor map of the geology of Ireland, a reconstruction of the RV Keary, art work depicting a cross-section of Dublin from Collins Barracks to the sea, and an impressive collection of the minerals we use in our daily lives. The was aimed at all ages and geological backgrounds.

When the exhibiton was open the public had a chance to meet a Geological Survey Ireland geologist who would talk to classes or individuals about your local rock type and Irish rock types, the formation of Ireland, how rocks are used and how important they are in the everyday life. A worksheet was also available for students to complete after the 30 minute talk, which will guide them through the other aspects of geoscience displayed in the exhibition. 

Overall, the exhibition was a great success and managed to educate and entertain visitors from school tours to casual passers-by.
