Groundwater body descriptions

The Groundwater Body (GWB) is the management unit under the Water Framework Directive (WFD).  Groundwater bodies are subdivisions of large geographical areas of aquifers so that they can be effectively managed in order to protect the groundwater and linked surface waters.

WFD Visual (Water Framework Directive Visualisation tool)

WFD Visual is a Water Framework Directive Visualisation tool. It was developed through a partnership between SNIFFER, the Environment Agency (England and Wales), the Environmental Protection Agency (Ireland), Geological Survey Ireland and the Scottish Environment Protection Agency. The aim was to produce images that help to communicate groundwater issues and processes and make these groundwater images available to anyone who wishes to use them.
