Congratulations to two of Ireland's geoparks on retaining UNESCO Global Geopark status for another four years. Revalidation takes place every four years and 2019 was the review year for both Copper Coast Geopark in Co Waterford and Burren and Cliffs of Moher Geopark in Co Clare. The news of their success in retaining this prestigious international status if now official.

Geological Survey Ireland partially funds and is part of the management structure of both Geoparks.

UNESCO Global Geoparks are single, unified geographical areas where sites and landscapes of international geological significance are managed with a holistic concept of pretection, education and sustainable development.
