Edward and Conor with the support of their teacher Kathleen Molloy, evaluated hundreds of aerial imagery of their local area between 1951 and 2017. After identifying the most vulnerable areas, they deployed GPS technology at points along the coastline repeatedly over three years to measure the exact extent of recent erosion.
Geological Survey Ireland takes part every year in the BT Young Scientist Exhibition in the RDS with a large busy stand in the Eco Zone to promote geosciences to the young public, along partners working in the sector: the Dublin Institute of Advance Studies, the Petroleum Affairs Division (DCCAE), the Irish Geological Association and the National Museum of Ireland.
